In the reading, it talks about early modern civilizations. It focuses on the Agrarian era and how all the developments give some validity to the notion go an early modern era. Strayer describes that the centuries in this time period a lot of energy came from some sort of animal powered machine. This goes to show how advanced and revolutionary these eras were.
Strayer also goes into detail on how the worlds population had a massive growths pert from 375 million to 968 million people. This shows how sustainable the world had become and globalization would follow. There was a lot of trade, manufacturing, and a common culture within boarders.
